Six years after the 9/11 attacks, and more questions remain unanswered than answered. The people responsible remain at large, and depending on your opinion, they are either in Pakistan or in Washington D.C. The public trust of White House has largely been eroded, their competence and ability to lead the country past 9/11 is still very much in doubt, as is their willingness to do so. As is their resolve to capture those responsible and bring them to justice. In fact, the very notion of justice as it exists in this country is more in doubt today than at any point in the six years following the attacks.

August 3, 2007Public support of the Iraq War and the President who had to have it has never been lower, prompting even the normally unshakable Bush to soften his position of apparently keeping American troops in Iraq indefinitely and making the country our nation’s greatest welfare case. The ultimate and apparent futility of our mission in Iraq must be so glaring now, even though to most of us it seems no more glaring than it was in 2006, 2005, and 2004, that the loyalist Republicans are finally, grudgingly, starting to defect from the Bush camp. Didn’t they do that already? you ask. Yes, but this time it might actually be in the form of votes on the floor of the Senate, rather than the usual meaningless sound bite.
